Top 5 Games of 2011!

There were so many fantastic titles of 2011, a varied bunch ranging from the dominating first person shooters to open sand-box titles. The year included the clash between the mighty Battlefield series and mainstream Call of Duty series... one which until this day is still being debated. The market was flooded within the last 3 months of the year with amazing titles such as Gears of War 3, Uncharted 3, Super Mario Land 3D, Saints Row The Third, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Halo: Combat Anniversary and so many more. Personally myself I only experienced the majority of release titles in the Xbox 360 and a few on the PS3 but it was still a fantastic year. I will be posting my Top 5 titles of 2011 this week at some point on Youtube!

Retro Futuristic!

I am a loyal & loving followers of the Fallout franchise. Nearly every single title I've played, completed and loved every minute of it. Many people question why the Fallout titles are so popular, in most recent times: Fallout 3 & Fallout: New Vegas. Fallout 3 started it off back in 2008 with the developers of the popular Morrowind & Oblivion, Bethesda Studio, picking up the Fallout series and they decided to recreate it to their own liking which was EXTREMELY different from the previous titles on the PC released in the late 90's.
Creating a first person/third person RPG shooter fused a combination of g
enres that people loved, put them all together and created a title that intrigued thousands, many of which had never heard of Fallout until this point. The title received prestigious awards including "Game of the Year 2008" from numerous gaming review sites. It was praised for it's unique combat system of a first person shooter with a unique new system known as the V.A.T.S.

A topic that appears and is a major contributor to many loving the Fallout franchise, including myself, is it's Retro Futuristic feel & look. It's the 21st century but society has stuck with e

verything from the 50's in terms of furniture, architecture, music etc and have furthered research into the atom and engineered robotics instead of environmental friendly appliances and advancements in other things just like our own world. After the Great War in which the world was devoured by a nuclear holocaust, MANY remnants of the Pre-War world still exist, many still assisting and helping the new world thrive.

In Fallout 3, we are given the perspective of this on the East Coast, in the Capital Wasteland around Washington D.C. However in Fallout: New Vegas we are given a perspective from the West (as in past Fallout titles) but this time in New Vegas, formerly known as Las Vegas, where a man named Mr House practically saved the city and surrounding area's from many nuclear war heads but accurately predicting the war 15 years before hand. It is very interesting seeing a fully functional community revolved around the ways of Pre-War society in a Post-Apocalyptic war world.

I guess the whole point of this post is that more & more titles seems to be following the whole "Retro Futuristic" path, games such as Bioshock I & II and I have a strong love that is ever growing for this new genre of style for gaming, please developers... keep it up!

Smokin' Awesome!

In need of a high level violence, over the top, non-stop adrenaline fuelled thrill ride?
Well look no further than the 2007 released "Smokin' Aces"! A film with an intelligent plot line and a cast that portray their roles incredibly, this film does not fail to deliver.

Unfortunately, this film didn't receive the attention it deserved upon it's release making it a pretty low down film that many aren't aware, so please- everyone go and check out this film now, you won't regret it!

2008: My Year of Gaming

We've all had those years where some of our most beloved games have come out & we look back on those years with an abundance of nostalgia. The year 2008 is probably my most fond year.

The titles that came out then that made me VERY nostalgic of that year include Fable II, the sequel to one of my most favourite RPG's of all time, Fallout 3; a game I had been looking forward despite never playing an previous entries in the series like many. Gears of War 2, the hype for this title was huge and it definitely delivered being somehow even better than the first game and finally Call of Duty World at War, the last CoD title to be set during World War II, which I much prefer over the mainstream Modern Warfare series these days.

A number of great RPG's as well as shooters definitely made the year for me. 2011 is a pretty close follow up now; hopefully 2012 can be even better!

Ultimate Collection for an Ultimate Title!

If you're like myself and absolutely LOVE the Fallout series you'll have picked up Fallout: New Vegas in 2010, the latest entry in the series from Obsidian Entertainment. I loved the game just as much as Fallout 3 but never got around to grabbing the DLC packs released for it because I knew this was coming. Next month "Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition" hits stores with it being bundled with the full New Vegas game PLUS all of the released DLC packs for quite cheap. If you are an RPG lover or follower of Fallout New Vegas, do yourself a favour and grab this freakin' awesome deal!

Movie Releases of January!

Tomorrow, DVD & Blu- Ray releases of Final Destination 5 & Horrible Bosses arrives in store, I'll definitely be picking up FD5!

Final Destination 5's plot line is the following: Survivors of a suspension- bridge collapse learn there's no way you can cheat death!

Horrible Bosses: Three friends conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness

Most Anticipated Title of 2012?

Well, it's hard to say at this point, being so early on in the year however it has to be a tie at the moment between Mass Effect 3 & Grand Theft Auto V. I've always loved the Mass Effect franchise and have been playing Grand Theft Auto since the original on the Playstation One. GTA IV seemed to disappoint many, not me however with it's realistic driving & shooting mechanics; it's visuals were absolutely amazing for the time as well. Mass Effect 2 blew me away with an amazing storyline, top quality voice acting, superb gameplay & stunning visuals. There are so many other titles I'm looking forward to as well but for know I'll stick with these two.
